Why a blog, why now?

Why a blog, why now?  Simple, to help each worker and student attending RU on Friday nights. Contained in this blog will be information that will help you to attain true freedom in Christ Jesus.  It is His Word, the truth, that will make your free.  It is interesting how the Bible uses the word "make" instead of "set".  If one is "set" free they can be recaptured and returned to captivity, but if one is "made" free he is made new. The Bible states it this way:ture
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Your old ways, old desires, old way of living, old habits, old addictions can be "passed away".  In other words they can die!  The Bible is promising  new ways, new desires, a new way of living, new habits, to those who "be in Christ", to those who are "born-again".
This is what Jesus was teaching Nicodemus in John: John 3:3 (KJV) 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
This new birth "born-again" is necessary for salvation.  Later in John 3 we see many verses dealing with how someone can receive salvation.
John 3:15-18 (KJV) 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

In the above passage we see eternal life is determined by one's personal decision concerning Jesus Christ.  It is required that one believe in Jesus Christ to receive salvation.  This is explained clearly in the last verse of John 3.
John 3:36 (KJV) 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Here are some other verses to consider:
Romans 6:23 (KJV) 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Salvation clearly here is in the Lord Jesus Christ.  It is not of our works or through any other, but Jesus!
John 14:6 (KJV) 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

I hope today that you have made that first all important step to recovery.  The step of believing and receiving God's Son, Jesus Christ into your heart and life.  If you would like more information about how you can have a salvation relationship with Jesus Christ, please email me today.
